Hot Apple Cider and a Campfire

What was today?

  • Finishing up a beautifully beaded dress for the mother of a groom.

  • Helping Kal put away his clothes, plus pull out all the small things. We have a nice stack going to pass on to someone else.

  • Making mental notes of the the next bunch of cleaning.

Picking up from where I left off writing yesterday...

We ended yesterday with a campfire with friends and superb hot apple cider. Mrs. L put in a jar of caramel sauce and several cinnamon sticks with the cider in a crock pot and let it stew all day.

Wow, was it ever good! I won't admit to how much of that I drank.

I finished about half the normal house cleaning yesterday, along with putting away some piles that came from nowhere, seemingly. As much as we make the kids help with the house, it's never quite Mom-clean until Mom cleans.

Kal is running around with some neighborhood boys today. All of them are in shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops. It's 52F degrees today. Climbing up to 53F for a high, and temperatures are in the 30s and 40s for night times now.

All of them have long pants and hoodies to wear. Nah! Who needs that until it's frostbite season? Even then, it'll be like pulling teeth to put them in winter clothes.

And coats are for decorative purposes in the closet.

Actually, coats just serve as a salve for the parents' conscience. If the Apocalypse happens, we have something warm for our children to wear.

This week coming up is Fall Break for the kids. I'm still busy closing down a busy alterations shop, but I will take Tuesday this week to have a fun day with the kids.

We'll probably visit the apple orchard with some friends, maybe take a picnic lunch there. Tennis with Kal is a must, too.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.
