Let God Carry Your Heavy Heart

My heart is heavy today. A very close friend is weathering some personal trials. Then Rush Limbaugh announced his cancer news to the world. I wish I could just make everyone better, but I can't.

God never promised rainbows and cupcakes and bliss to believers. What he does promise is far more substantial. He is strong enough to carry the heavy heart we give to Him.

  • He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13)

  • He is with us and comforts us (Psalm 23)

  • He is near the broken-hearted (Psalm 34)

  • He forgives our iniquities and redeems our lives from destruction (Psalm 103)

  • His mercies are new every morning, and His compassion fails not (Lamentations 3)

Those are just a few comforts we have from Scripture, comforts that strengthen us to face each new day. Psalm 34 is one of my favorites to read when I'm feeling down.

Each of us has a path to travel that nobody else can walk for us. With God, we are not alone.
